Grassroots Motorsports – Wheel Truth

Grassroots Motorsport magazine put up a solid article on their website the other day. In that article, they asked wheel industry experts their thoughts on various aspects of wheels. Among the wheel industry experts asked to share their wheel knowledge was Scott Weiss, our marketing director.

This article really tries to address some serious information that should be considered before making a wheel purchase. There are so many wheel choices available on the market, so how do you choose the wheel that is perfect for your car and given needs? This article may have some insight to help you with your wheel decision.

Of course, we hope that you’re always able to find something that works for you in the Konig line, but more than that we hope this information helps you find that perfect wheel for your build!

If you have any questions we can help with, Konig product related or just general wheel information, please feel free to message us on social media. Links below! Also feel free to check out TECH section on the website. We may have already addressed what you’re looking for there!

What Is Sponsorship?

Very basically sponsorship is a form of marketing in which you receive something in exchange for specific deliverables that translate to a return on investment. In our case, the majority of the time this means Konig would supply wheels in full or at a partial cost in exchange for these deliverable(s).

These deliverables could be things like written recaps after each event with high resolution images, Konig livery on the vehicle, unique content for Konig’s use in advertising, or other arrangements.

The thing that is extremely important to understand is that your sponsorship is to increase the awareness of a specific Konig product or the brand in general. It takes far more than just running logos on your car and going to local car meets. While we wish that we were able to sponsor everyone that wants to represent us, we have limited sponsorships available.

With that all said, you should keep in mind that your proposal will be reviewed and considered along with all of the other proposals we receive. So when you put together your proposal you may want to think about that and figure out what you can offer that will bring value.

Also if you’re a race team or driver that competes as a NASA or SCCA racer, you may want to check out our NASA sponsorship program.

What should I put in my Sponsorship Proposal?

We’re often asked, “what should I put in my sponsorship proposal?”. This isn’t the question you should ask a company you’re seeking sponsorship from. Usually, if we have to suggest what to include in your proposal, your offering may not be strong enough to earn a sponsorship. We wish we were able to sponsor everyone who wanted to represent us, however, that’s just not possible. Below we tried to outline some basic information to help you on your proposal development.

Sponsorship proposals are essentially your plan for exposure on your vehicle, team or program. So take this as an opportunity to capture the essence of your program, your vehicle, your driver(s) and/or maybe even yourself.

Now that we’ve given you “the talk”, here is some tangible advice that may help you. Remember, we receive thousands of proposals every year. So be creative, make them fun, think about how you can offer things that other’s can’t and always try to understand that the more value you bring increases the likelihood of your proposal being considered.

In a sponsorship proposal, we’re looking for the following at the minimum.

– Information about you, your program/team, etc.
– Information about the vehicle(s).
– Pictures of your vehicle.
– Your event schedule.
– Your plan for exposure (media, other partnerships, etc).
– Your social media handles/links, links to your websites.
– Other current sponsors.
– What you’re offering (high res images, livery placement & sizing, exposure plan, etc.).
– What you’re looking for from Konig.

Again, remember that your proposal will be reviewed and considered along with all of the other proposals we receive. So when you put together your proposal you may want to think about that. Figure out what you can offer that will bring value and what makes you unique and what will position you above others with similar builds.

Are you currently accepting sponsorship proposals?

Yes. We’re always accepting sponsorship proposals. However, depending on budgets and time of the year, sponsorships may not always be available. However, we review all proposals and if they’re potential sponsorship candidates we will contact you and start a dialog. From there we will either get started on the path to sponsorship or communicate as to how long we estimate the wait will be until a sponsorship will be available.

When will you contact me?

If we feel your proposal is a potential sponsorship candidate we will reach out you. Generally, this happens within hours or weeks of receiving your proposal. Depending on how many proposals have been submitted or how busy the marketing department is at the moment, will all dictate how long it will be before someone is able to review your proposal and get back to you. Unfortunately, during high volume times of the year, we may not be able to contact every applicant that is not being considered. We try our best and apologize for this!

We ask that you wait at least 2 weeks before contacting us about your submitted proposal. After that, you may email sponsorship@konigwheels.com

Please make sure the subject of your follow up email is “Sponsorship follow up – YOUR LAST NAME or TEAM NAME“.
